Winter Wonderland: Tea, Reflection, and Progress 🌨️❄️
The snowstorm prompted Governor Murphy to issue a state of emergency. While the roads are messy, and I’m grateful to be indoors, I couldn’t help but hope that this storm would complicate certain travel plans—particularly for those heading to Washington for tomorrow's indoor swearing-in ceremony. The thought of fewer people attending what feels like an embarrassing political spectacle brings a small smile to my face. ❄️🚧👀
Instead of dwelling on that circus, I’m choosing to focus on something much more meaningful: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tomorrow is a day to honor his legacy, his words, and his fight for justice and equality. My social media will be dedicated to him, not to the orange felon taking the oath. MLK's dream deserves the spotlight, especially when it feels like the progress he envisioned is slipping further away. ✊🏿🕊️📜
As I reflect on all of this, I’m making the most of this cozy evening. I’ve got my favorite candle burning 🕯️, my diffuser going 🌿, and a warm cup of tea—Traditional Medicinals’ Immune Zoom, to be exact 🍵. I sweetened it with some brown sugar, stirred it in my FDU tumbler, and skipped the milk (because... ew 🐄). It’s the perfect drink for a snowy evening, especially paired with the calm of staying indoors and enjoying simple pleasures. 🧘🏾♀️
The tea is helping me relax as the snow transforms the world outside into a glistening white landscape. It feels like the perfect moment to breathe, take stock, and recharge. Despite the heaviness of current events, the snow reminds me that even in chaos, there’s beauty. ✨🌨️
The storm may rage on, but this little pocket of comfort—this space filled with warmth, snacks, and quiet reflection—feels like a reminder that we’re still capable of finding peace. Tomorrow, I’ll honor Dr. King’s legacy. Today, I’m grounding myself in gratitude for small joys, knowing that brighter days have to be ahead. 🌟🙏🏾
