A Heartfelt Thank You (And Off to Homework I Go…)

Image
Dear Amazing Readers, First off, I just want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for being part of this incredible journey during Black History Month! Your support means the world to me, and it’s been such a joy sharing the stories of these incredible individuals who’ve made such a profound impact on history. From artists to activists, innovators to trailblazers, we've celebrated some of the best and brightest. But now, duty calls! It’s time for homework (ugh 😩), but don’t worry—I’ll be back tomorrow, ready to share more about the amazing figures who’ve shaped Black history. The work never stops, and neither does the celebration of these phenomenal individuals. And I can’t lie—I’m also looking forward to Kendrick Lamar at the halftime show tonight! I’m sure there will be some entertaining reactions from people who can’t handle "Lift Every Voice and Sing" being on TV or Kendrick’s performance. But hey, let them be mad while we enjoy the greatness! 😂 Thanks again...

Goodnight, Y’all. 😴🌙

Image
Goodnight, Y’all.   😴🌙 I’m finally feeling sleepy after my nap (though I’m lowkey mad about it) 😩. It’s one of those naps that somehow makes you more tired than when you started. But, of course, I’ve gotta get up early for class tomorrow… Ugh. The struggle is real. 🙄 This damn period really whooped my ass this month, though. Like, seriously. I don’t know what’s worse—getting through the day or fighting off sleep like it’s a battle I can’t win. 😩 But here I am, trying to make the most of it while still getting my rest. So, I’m off to try and catch some Zs before the grind starts again. Hope you all are getting some good sleep and taking care of yourselves. ✨💤 Goodnight, folks. Catch y’all tomorrow. 😴 Happy Black History Month! ✊🏾💛 It’s a time to honor, celebrate, and reflect on the incredible contributions, achievements, and history of Black people. Let’s continue to uplift, learn, and grow together. The journey is ongoing, and every step forward matters.

Embracing My Worth as an Introvert 🌿✨

Image
There was a time when I felt like I had to justify my quiet nature, as if being introverted was something that needed fixing. In a world that celebrates loud voices and constant social engagement, I often questioned whether my preference for solitude, deep conversations, and quiet moments meant I was missing out. But the truth is—introversion is not a flaw. It’s a strength. It’s a way of existing that allows for reflection, creativity, and a unique perspective on the world. I’ve learned to embrace the things that bring me joy, whether it's getting lost in a book 📖, working on a creative project 🎨, or simply enjoying the comfort of my own company ☕. 🌸  "I am worthy of a beautiful, happy, fulfilling, sunny, and lovely life. I deserve it all."  🌸 This reminder resonates deeply with me. I don’t have to be the loudest person in the room to be valuable. I don’t have to constantly push myself into social situations that drain me just to fit in. I deserve happiness exactly as...

Sipping Healthily – My Thoughts on the American Heart Association’s Recommendations 🍹❤️

Image
If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this journey to better health, it’s that small, simple changes can make a big difference. That’s why I love exploring advice from the American Heart Association (AHA)—they make heart health feel less overwhelming and way more doable. Recently, I came across some of their tips about healthy drinks, and I wanted to share my take on it. Let’s talk about how we can sip our way to better health without sacrificing flavor! 🥤✨ What the American Heart Association Says 🩺 The AHA has some solid advice when it comes to what we drink. Honestly, some of it made me rethink my usual beverages. Here are the highlights: Sugary Drinks Are a No-Go 🚫 We all know sugary drinks aren’t the best, but the AHA really emphasizes how they can mess with your health—causing weight gain, diabetes, and even heart issues. Instead of soda or sugary juice, they suggest trying unsweetened options or water with a splash of fruit. 🍓💧 Hydration Doesn’t Have to Be Boring 💦 Drinking ...

Painfully Awkward 🫣😐

Image
I don’t know if it’s something about me that people can pick up on without me saying a word or if it’s somehow written across my face, but in all the months I’ve been on campus, I haven’t made any meaningful connections. My professors, advisor, and EOF counselor have been wonderful—understanding and supportive—but outside of that? There’s nothing. Starting over at 37 isn’t easy, but it’s not something I can’t handle. I’m perfectly fine on my own—I’ve learned to enjoy my own company, to find peace in the quiet moments. ✨ But sometimes, I can’t help but think about how nice it would be to have someone to share things with—a friend to laugh with, or even a travel companion for those times I want to explore the world. 🌍 Making friends at this stage of life feels impossible, though. It’s like trying to break into a social circle where everyone already has their place, and I’m just there on the outside, wondering if there’s room for me. Some days, I feel invisible; other days, I wonder if I...

Monday Mayhem: Cold Sandwiches, Period Poop, and Bland Burgers

Image
Ugh, What a Day 🙄 I started the day early by catching the minibus to get to class at 10 AM, so I left the house at 7:30. But this time, I forgot to grab something to eat, so once I got on campus, I went to 7/11 to get a coffee and an egg with sausage sandwich. Sounds simple, right? Nope. The sandwich wasn’t warm at all, so I had to microwave it, but even after that, it wasn’t warm enough. Ugh 😩. The sandwich was cold in the middle, and the coffee wasn’t hot either. I was starving, so I ate it outside the math building. Then, of course, my period decided to make things worse, and I had to run to the bathroom to deal with period poop 💩. Period poop is a whole evil entity on its own. It’s like, as if the cramps and everything else weren’t enough, now you gotta deal with your stomach turning into an angry monster. It empties you out, and all you want to do is lay down and cry, but no—you gotta keep going. The worst part? After all that, I was still starving because I just emptied ...

A Chilly Day at FDU ❄️🧥

Image
Today started off  freezing —36°F with a wind so sharp it felt personal. 🥶 I bundled up like an eskimo and got to class way too early (so early even my professor hadn’t arrived). ⏰ With nothing else to do, I skimmed through my notes while waiting for things to start. 📚 The class was fine, but  group projects ? Still the bane of my existence. 😒 I handled my part, but the team? Not so much. Luckily, my professor reassured me that my grade wouldn’t suffer because of their slacking. Small wins! ✅ Afterward, I grabbed lunch to tide me over before meeting my professor again. 🍴 But can we talk about FDU’s overpriced, mediocre campus food? 💸 Eleven bucks for something so bland it felt like daylight robbery. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Once I wrapped up with my professor, I uploaded my work and hit the library for some study time. 📖 Even indoors, the chill seemed to linger, making it hard to focus. 🥶 (Pro tip: bring extra layers—it’s not just cold outside!) I realized I still have my art class assi...

November 1st Vibes: Geese, Coffee, and Crisp Fall Weather

Image
November 1st Vibes: Geese, Coffee, and Crisp Fall Weather This morning started off with rain, but it finally cleared up, leaving behind perfect, crisp fall air. The kind of weather that just makes you want to breathe deep, grab a cozy sweater, and wander around. I started my day in writing lab, where I scored a 90 on my essay! 🎉 It’s not perfect yet—a few revisions to go—but I’ll take the win. Today’s also a special day—it’s my Aunt Dee Dee’s birthday. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Aunt Dee Dee. 🎂 Thinking of you brings back so many memories, and I just want to celebrate you. You’re missed, but you’re here with us in spirit. After class, I headed to the Student Union for breakfast. The bacon was on point—crispy and delicious—and honestly, I think I could eat it every day. 🥓 I could use a quick ride to IHOP, though—that would be the dream. For now, I’ll settle for on-campus breakfast, but there’s nothing quite like a full IHOP stack when you really want to treat yourself. 🥞 Lost in...

A Day of Sunshine, Wins, and a Little Sleepiness

Image
October 22, 2024 So, of course, another late post because I’ve been busy with more midterms (ugh), but does anyone actually read this blog? 😂 Today has been one of those rare perfect days. Even though it’s October, the weather felt like a warm embrace—pure bliss with sunshine and no chill in the air. To my surprise, my professor canceled class at the last minute due to illness. While I feel for them 🤢, it gave me the unexpected gift of extra time to catch up on homework and soak in the beautiful weather. As if the day couldn’t get better, my mom had an appointment, which meant no bus ride for me today! 🙌🏾 A small victory, but one that always feels significant. Later, I had a meeting with my EOF counselor. Hearing her praise for my hard work, especially in math (ugh, math), truly made my day. I’m still struggling with it, but I’m aiming for at least a C so I can finally be DONE with math forever! Now, I’m sitting in the doctor’s office with my mom, and I can feel the early wake-up c...
