Professor Igor for the Win!
Alright, so we’re three weeks into the semester, and if you’ve been following my blog, you know algebra has been my arch-nemesis. π€ Last semester was brutal—I struggled, went to tutoring, asked my professor for help, did everything I could, and still got nowhere. My previous professor had this whole “it’s easy” attitude, which—spoiler alert—it was NOT. ❌ And to make matters worse, she didn’t believe in extra credit or acknowledging effort. π Long story short, she failed me, and I had to retake the class.
When I met with my advisor, I didn’t care who taught the course as long as it wasn’t her. π« I ended up having to take night classes just to avoid her, but honestly? Best. Decision. Ever. Because this time around, I have Professor Igor, and he’s a game-changer. ππΎ
He actually breaks things down in a way that makes sense. π§ But the best part? He gives credit for effort. ✅ Participation, homework, helping others—he acknowledges all of it. And let me tell you, that has helped me tremendously.
So, we had a quiz, and I just knew I failed. π© After we went over it, it was obvious I didn’t have a single answer right. I avoided checking my grade on Blackboard because, honestly, I didn’t want to see the damage. π¬ But when I finally did… 71.1%?! WHAT?! π€―π I was shocked—in the best way possible.
It turns out that all the times I stayed late to help, assisted classmates in getting access to their books, and actively participated (even when I had no clue what I was doing π ) actually counted for something. And that? That’s the kind of teaching that makes a difference. ✨
So, shoutout to Professor Igor for actually seeing his students and making this class survivable. ππΎ I’m officially on my way to getting through algebra, and this just made my day. π₯³ππΎπ
Now, time to tackle my homework. π΅π«π
