Bulk Buying Dexcom & Libre Sensors — My Missed Chance π₯Ίππ« π€·πΎ♀️π€¦πΎ♀️
✈️ I Could’ve Bought My Dexcom Sensors in Bulk… But I Forgot
So here’s a story: I was recently in KrakΓ³w, Poland, just minding my business, enjoying the sights, the food, the vibe — and completely forgot to do one major thing:
Buy my Dexcom G7 sensors in bulk.
No prescription.
No insurance games.
No quantity limits.
Just click, pay, done.
Meanwhile back in the U.S.?
π§Ύ Jump through hoops.
π« Limited to 2 or 3 sensors per order.
⏳ Gotta wait for “approval time” like it's some VIP list.
πͺͺ And yes — even with insurance, there are restrictions.
π΅π± Poland Had It All Figured Out
While casually browsing Polish diabetic supply sites like Diabetyk24, I realized something:
Dexcom G7 sensors cost just 250 zΕ (~$63 USD)
You don’t need a prescription
You can buy as many as you want
And even though I don’t pay out-of-pocket here in the U.S. (thanks to my insurance), I absolutely would’ve paid cash while overseas — just for the freedom to stock up. A 2–3 month supply, no questions asked? Yes, please.
But I forgot. π€¦π½♀️
π Then I Tried for Freestyle Libre 3…
Not gonna lie — I also had my eye on the Freestyle Libre 3.
Newer. Slimmer. Sleeker.
I was ready to switch it up.
But guess what?
It was sold out in every country I visited:
π©πͺ Germany
π΅π± Poland
π¨πΏ Czech Republic
Apparently, I wasn’t the only one with the same brilliant idea.
⏳ Now I'm Back in New Jersey... Waiting
Now that I’m back, I’m back to:
Limited refills
Approval wait times
Controlled supply
Again — I’m grateful I don’t pay out of pocket here, but the hoops I have to jump through to get what I need? Tiring.
Abroad, I could’ve had what I wanted, when I wanted, and as much as I wanted.
π What I Learned
If you’re a Dexcom or Libre user and you’re traveling abroad — especially in Europe — don’t sleep on the opportunity to stock up.
No limits.
No stress.
No gatekeeping.
Next time?
You better believe I’ll be making room in my suitcase.
Dexcoms > souvenirs.
