A Saturday Adventure: Errands, Treats & Small Wins

The day started with me staring at my outfit, wondering if everything matched.

After some back and forth, I just went with it—because honestly, who cares? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝ‍♀️ Then came the realization that the mall is just not what it used to be. It’s boring now. The vacant stores, like Best Buy by the Garden State Mall & Paramus Park Mall, are being turned into luxury apartments instead of bringing in something useful. Like, where are the affordable apartments? We don’t need any more overpriced places. Smh. It’s already crowded as it is. ๐Ÿ™„

I called my cousin, the laziest person I know, to see if he wanted to do something. Of course, he didn’t. ๐Ÿ™„ He’s always talking about how he’s bored & broke but never wants to do anything. Like, we can window shop—I’m broke too! ๐Ÿ˜‚ But no, all he wants to do now is smoke weed or cigarettes. Smh. Every time he goes out, he claims he has to buy something, especially cigarettes. To me, that sounds like a personal choice, so continue to be bored lol. ๐Ÿ˜†

With not much else to do and the city being way too expensive for a casual trip ๐Ÿ’ธ, I went thrifting with my mom. The weather had me fooled, making it seem like it was warm when it was actually cold. But it didn’t get freezing until the sun went down—classic. ๐ŸŒค️➡️๐Ÿฅถ

The thrift store was pure chaos. ๐Ÿ˜ต‍๐Ÿ’ซ It was overcrowded, messy, and just overwhelming. My introverted self could notsurvive that madness today—I was just over it. I didn’t last long. Instead, I dipped out and went to Value Zone, which was way calmer, cleaner, and actually organized. I liked it immediately. ๐Ÿ›’✨

Pics of Value Zone & me trying to not buy everything ๐Ÿ˜‚

At some point, I thought I grabbed Yardley’s oatmeal lotion, but nope—I ended up with the Aloe & Avocado one instead. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝ‍♀️ ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพ‍♀️ That’s what happens when you move too fast. But the real challenge of the day? Avocado. I’ve never been a fan (it literally looks like vomit to me ๐Ÿคฎ), but I decided to give the lotion a shot. First time for everything, I guess! ๐Ÿ˜‚

This weekend also brought the chance to reflect on some hard-earned victories. I scored a 93 on my algebra midterm—a milestone I’m excited to share with my EOF counselor next week. It’s moments like these that make the grind worth it, reminding me that progress, no matter how slow, always leads to something great.

Lately, I’ve been paying more attention to what I put on my body. I switched to aluminum-free deodorant after breaking out from regular ones—Native and Secret have been my go-tos. Now, I’m looking at parabens, too. Probably a small change, but better safe than sorry. ๐Ÿงด✨

Next stop: ShopRite. My mom swore she wasn’t getting anything, but somehow, she left with three bags of groceries. Make it make sense. ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜‚ I got myself some fried chicken—mostly flats because they’re the best ๐Ÿ—, a breast, and some linguine for dinner. After that, I managed to convince her to take me to Starbucks, where I couldn’t choose between my two favorites. So, naturally, I got both—a strawberry aรงaรญ refresher ๐Ÿ“ and a caramel frappuccino ☕. No regrets. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

By 4:35 PM, I was finally home, ready to chill. Sims time—hoping they don’t act up today. ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ˜‚ According to my Apple Watch, I burned 125 calories, got in 17 minutes of my 50-minute exercise goal, and stood for 4 out of 8 hours. Not bad. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ But now, it’s time to mentally prepare for the reality check—spring break is officially over. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ˜ญ

The day wrapped up with me at home, ready to enjoy my food and drinks while basking in the peace of a Saturday night. There’s something special about kicking back, knowing you’ve checked off everything on your to-do list, indulged in a few treats, and even managed to breathe easier after getting rid of an annoying nasal clog (yep, that booger’s gone!). ๐Ÿ˜‚
