Why Facebook Feels Like One Big Ad in 2025 😤
I don’t know who at Facebook (or should I say Meta 🙄) thought this was a good idea, but this platform is officially unusable. Facebook used to be a place where you could catch up with friends, share memes, and maybe even argue in the comments if you felt like it. Now? It’s just ads. Ads everywhere. Ads for things you don’t need, never asked for, and have no way of blocking anymore. 😩
Let’s be real—Facebook was already going downhill 📉, but at least before, you could block ads or adjust your settings to limit them. Now? They’ve completely taken that away. You hide one ad, and another pops up instantly, like some kind of capitalist hydra. 🐍 It’s a never-ending cycle of "sponsored content" that no one asked for.
Mark, You Don’t Need the Money 💰🙄
At this point, Mark Zuckerberg has more money than he knows what to do with. So why, exactly, does he feel the need to turn Facebook into a 24/7 infomercial? It’s not like this man is hurting for cash. You own Instagram, WhatsApp, and a whole damn metaverse no one even uses. You’re good. Let people breathe! 😤
But no. Instead of making the platform better, they just keep cramming more ads down our throats. You scroll through your feed and get hit with:
- Sponsored posts from random companies you’ve never heard of. 🧐
- Sketchy dropshipping products that are 100% a scam. 🚩
- Weirdly specific ads that make you wonder if your phone is listening to you. 👀
- Pages you never followed but somehow keep showing up anyway. 😑
And let’s not even talk about those creepy, hyper-targeted ads that appear right after you talk about something out loud. 🧐 At this point, Facebook isn’t even trying to hide the fact that it’s spying on us. 🤡
Where Did the Social Part of Social Media Go? 🤔
What’s crazy is that Facebook wasn’t always like this. There was a time when you could actually enjoy scrolling through your feed. You saw posts from your friends, joined groups that actually showed up in your feed, and could engage with content that wasn’t just trying to sell you something. Now? It’s all buried under a pile of advertisements, suggested nonsense, and “engagement bait” posts designed to keep you scrolling forever. 😒
Even if you do see posts from friends, they’re usually weeks old because Facebook’s algorithm refuses to show things in chronological order. ⏳ Instead, you get some random post from five days ago, followed by three ads in a row, and then something from a group you joined ten years ago but forgot existed. Make it make sense. 🤦🏾♂️
You Can’t Even Escape the Ads Anymore 😡
Remember when you could at least try to block ads? Yeah, that’s gone now. Before, you could click the little dots, select "hide ad," and pretend like you had some control over your feed. Now, that option is mysteriously missing. Facebook doesn’t even pretend to care about user experience anymore. They just straight-up said, "You’re gonna see these ads, and you’re gonna like it." 💀
It’s giving forced capitalism. 🏛️ It’s giving money-hungry nonsense. 💵 It’s giving "We don’t care about users, we just want ad revenue." And honestly? I’m over it. 🙅🏾♂️
So, What’s the Move? 🤷🏾♀️
At this point, the only real options are:
- Mute the app and pretend it doesn’t exist. 🙈
- Use it strictly for Messenger and ignore the feed altogether. 📨
- Complain about it (like I’m doing right now) but continue to scroll out of habit. 😂
- Leave and never look back—but then realize you still need it for certain things. 😩
No matter what, though, Facebook isn’t the same anymore. It’s no longer a social network; it’s an ad factory disguised as a website. 🏭 And honestly? It’s exhausting. 😵💫
At this point, it’s either deal with the nonsense or jump ship entirely. 🚢 And if Instagram ever reaches this level of ad-pocalypse, we’re all doomed. 😭
How do you feel about Facebook lately? Are you as annoyed as I am, or have you just accepted the fact that this app is now 90% ads and 10% actual content? Let’s talk about it in the comments—if Facebook even lets you see this post without throwing five more ads in your face first. 💀
