Navigating Campus Life: Food, Weather, and Finding Home π
As I navigate the ups and downs of college life, I find myself reflecting on the little moments that make each day unique. Whether it’s the unpredictable weather π¦️, delicious food π, or the challenges of finding a place to call home π‘, these experiences shape my journey as an awkwardly introverted student.
The Journey to the Chinese Restaurant πΆπΎ♀️π₯‘
Today, I decided to treat myself to some Chinese food, specifically pork fried rice, which is one of my favorites. The walk to the restaurant turned out to be more of a trek than I anticipated, especially with the windy and chilly weather that made me realize I hadn’t dressed warmly enough. The contrast between the warmth of the sun ☀️ and the biting wind was a reminder of how unpredictable this season can be.
Even though my ankles were crying by the time I arrived, I made good time and got my food quickly. In fact, my Apple Watch ⌚️ recorded a total time of 47:29 for my walk, covering 1.35 miles with an average pace of 35:04 per mile. The deliciousness of the pork fried rice made the effort worthwhile, and I was grateful for that little moment of joy amid the chaos of college life. π
The Challenge of Finding Housing π π
While I’m enjoying the conveniences of living at home, the reality of the housing situation in New Jersey looms large. Finding affordable housing can feel like a daunting task, especially with so many apartments requiring a realtor’s fee on top of rent. It’s frustrating when you want independence but find that it comes with such a high price tag.
After having lived on my own before, moving back home felt like a step back, but it’s a practical decision for now. It’s a tough market, and I know I’m not alone in facing these challenges. π€·πΎ♀️
Campus Atmosphere π³π¨
After my food adventure, I found a cozy spot on campus to sit under the trees and enjoy the breeze. There’s something about being outdoors that provides a refreshing change of pace from the usual hustle and bustle of college life. The cooler temperature on campus, compared to the warmer air I felt while walking, is another example of how unique microclimates can exist within just a few blocks.
Having comfortable spaces to unwind and recharge before classes is essential. It gives me a chance to breathe and mentally prepare for the challenges ahead. π
Food as Comfort π½️❤️
Food has a special way of providing comfort during stressful times. My delicious pork fried rice not only satisfied my hunger but also reminded me of the joy in small, everyday indulgences. It’s amazing how a simple meal can brighten your day and provide a sense of normalcy, especially when life feels overwhelming.
For anyone looking to recreate this comfort at home, fried rice is incredibly versatile and easy to customize with your favorite ingredients. Whether you add veggies, scrambled eggs, or different proteins, it’s a dish that can suit anyone’s taste. π₯π³
Wearing Colors and Navigating Challenges π¨
Today, I decided to wear colors, which is a big deal for me, especially when I’m on my period. I usually avoid bright outfits because accidents happen π±, and I absolutely hate it. Wearing colors today was a challenge, but it felt refreshing to break out of my usual wardrobe routine.
Conclusion π
As I reflect on my experiences, I’m reminded of the importance of self-care and finding joy in the little things. Navigating college life may come with its challenges, but it’s the small moments—like a tasty meal or a breezy afternoon—that make the journey worthwhile.
Oh, and I made it to class at 12:59 PM, even before the professor! π Talk about being on time! (I know this post is late, but I was busy in my web design class, learning all the cool things I’ll need to know for future projects! I can’t wait to see how my app prototype looks and works, and also my webpage. Yay for learning! π)
I’d love to hear about your experiences in managing campus life, finding housing, or enjoying your favorite meals. What small joys have you found that make your days brighter? π✨
