My First Gallery Submission for Black History Month ✨🖤👩🏾‍💻

Image
Black History Month is here, and for the first time ever, I have artwork featured in a gallery. 🎨🖼️ This is something I never expected to happen, and honestly, I’m still processing it. It all started when my professor told me to submit artwork for my college’s Black History Month gallery. At first, I wasn’t sure—I don’t consider myself someone who can draw, but I do explore other creative media. 🎭📸 Still, having a professor recognize my work and encourage me to put it out there felt like a big deal. So, I decided to go for it. I submitted two pieces: one is a self-portrait made with collage and mixed media, and the other is an AI-generated piece created for a blog post celebrating Black History Month. 🖌️🖼️ The self-portrait is actually from my last semester’s class, which focused on collage and mixed media. That class was so much fun, but also exhausting—cutting and layering all those pieces took forever. ✂️😩 My thumb still hurts from all that work! Both pieces represent differe...

✨ First Semester Back in College: DONE! ✨

Image
I did it! After taking the leap to go back to college, I’ve officially wrapped up my first semester. It wasn’t always easy—juggling assignments, exams, and life—but I made it through. There were challenges along the way (looking at you, math class 😒), but I never gave up. Even when things felt overwhelming, I kept pushing forward. Now, I’m one step closer to achieving my goals! This semester wasn’t just about academics—it was also about creativity and growth. For my final exam in mixed media, I created  The Journey of Building My Dollhouse , a project that showcased my imagination and allowed me to experiment with different materials. Crafting a dollhouse is more than assembling pieces and painting walls—it’s a reflection of creativity, patience, and vision. Over the past weeks, I transformed a blank dollhouse into a vibrant, miniature world. From designing tiny details to troubleshooting unexpected challenges, this project has been an unforgettable journey. I wanted my dollhouse ...

Thank Goodness for Art Majors! 🎨✨

Image
I just have to say, thank goodness I’m not drowning in a sea of math classes like those poor engineering students! 😅 As an art major, I’m so relieved to be focusing on creativity rather than complex equations. 🖌️🖼️ Sure, I still have to tackle a couple of math classes to check off the requirements (ugh, numbers 🔢), but I’m almost there! 🎉 Just one more class… if I pass this class! Ugh,  Algebra 0298 , I hate you! 😫 I recently had a breakthrough in math class when my professor noticed I was struggling. She let us out early for a meeting and even introduced open-book exams! 📝✨ It feels like a small victory that will really help boost my score. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I’m so grateful for that! 🌟 Being an art major means I get to immerse myself in my passions without the stress of heavy math courses. 🎨🖍️ I can only imagine how tough it must be for computer science students. 😵 Here’s to wrapping up my math requirements and diving headfirst in...
