Diary of a Chaotic Day: Math, Figma, Funky Classmates, and a Walmart Surprise

lol this ai pic is so funny ๐Ÿ˜‚

Late Post: Written on November 14, 2024

Today was… something, to say the least. It all started with a brutal math quiz ๐Ÿงฎ ➗ that, for some reason, my professor thought could be done in 20 minutes—without a calculator. Seriously? Twenty minutes to solve problems like:

• p² + 11p + 30 = (p + 5)(p + 6)
• b² + 8b + 15 = (b + 3)(b + 5)
• 36 - 25t² = (6 - 5t)(6 + 5t)

These aren’t your basic addition problems—factorizing on paper is a whole other struggle! Tackling them without any kind of help was impossible ๐Ÿคฏ. Math class feels like my personal downfall, but I’m powering through as best as I can ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ.

After surviving that, I treated myself to some Green Day coffee ☕ and mini tacos ๐ŸŒฎ with a kick! The coffee was heaven—Green Day’s got a way of summing things up with “American Idiot” and how we’re living in “Troubled Times.”Then I went to the library to work… or at least tried to. I ended up people-watching ๐Ÿ‘€, sipping my coffee, and staring at the 3D printer (off-limits to touch) ๐Ÿค–. Eventually, I packed up for web design class. Finally, something to look forward to! ๐ŸŽ‰

We’re learning to create social media ads today using Figma. It’s all about the call to action, which is actually pretty fun to figure out. Figma feels familiar, too—its layers remind me of Adobe Illustrator, which I’m comfortable with ๐Ÿ–ฅ️. But, of course, the chaos continued. A girl strolled in almost an hour late ⏰, then had the nerve to ask for a break! The professor had login issues, and on top of all that, one of my classmates seemed to forget the concept of personal hygiene ๐Ÿ˜ท. Three hours in a stuffy room? No thanks—I was powering through with my coffee as my personal air freshener ☕๐Ÿ’จ.

After classes wrapped up, it was time to get ready for next semester. My schedule looks decent ๐Ÿ“…, and I was beyond excited to see that I can take math online! Finally, I can get the help I need without a professor saying no ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ. I’m all set with three more classes, but I have to wait for my doctor’s paperwork ๐Ÿ“ before winter/spring officially starts. Overall, I’ve lucked out with professors, tutors, and my advisor. My math professor is nice but way too strict about notes ๐Ÿง. And then there’s the balance for my classes this semester. I had been planning to go on a study-abroad trip ✈️, but now that money will go toward tuition. Not thrilled about it, but I know it’ll be worth it. I’m still aiming for Class of 2028 ๐ŸŽ“, and since it’s a 4-year college, there’ll be so many opportunities ahead ๐ŸŒŸ.

After all that, I waited for my mom to get off work, then we picked up my cousin (the birthday guy ๐ŸŽ‰) and headed to the Walmart Superstore near him. And surprise—my cousin treated himself to a brand-new TV ๐Ÿ“บ! He’s been watching everything on a projector, but apparently, his games called for a proper screen. It was a Roku TV with Apple TV and AirPlay already built in! I was kind of jealous, honestly ๐Ÿ˜…. When I got my Roku TV years ago, it didn’t have any of those features—just the basics. He definitely scored a great upgrade!

By the time we got home around 7, I was wiped out, and naturally, that’s when the cramps hit ๐Ÿ˜–. Definitely bringing my ibuprofen and tissues tomorrow ๐Ÿฅ to deal with the chaos of this weather messing with me.

Just when I thought the day was done, I got some amazing news about the study-abroad trip! If I get approved for the EOF scholarship, it’ll cover the $500 program fee ๐Ÿ’ฐ—so the only extra I’d need is food ๐Ÿ” if I choose something outside of what’s included. Fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿพ, because I’d get to visit Czechia, Poland, and Germany ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช. My passport is already stamped with Mexico, the DR, and Greece ๐ŸŒŽ. Exceeding my goals to travel and see the world feels so good, and now I can’t wait to add these new destinations! ✨

Now I’m eating my corn ๐ŸŒฝ and chicken ๐Ÿ—, too tired to do any more work ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. Time to rest up because I have class at 9:30 am ⏳.

Closing out this diary entry with a big thank-you to my insulin pump, which keeps me going ๐Ÿ’‰. Here’s hoping tomorrow is a bit less chaotic!
