Diary of a Chaotic Day: Math, Figma, Funky Classmates, and a Walmart Surprise
lol this ai pic is so funny ๐
Late Post: Written on November 14, 2024
Today was… something, to say the least. It all started with a brutal math quiz ๐งฎ ➗ that, for some reason, my professor thought could be done in 20 minutes—without a calculator. Seriously? Twenty minutes to solve problems like:
• p² + 11p + 30 = (p + 5)(p + 6)
• b² + 8b + 15 = (b + 3)(b + 5)
• 36 - 25t² = (6 - 5t)(6 + 5t)
These aren’t your basic addition problems—factorizing on paper is a whole other struggle! Tackling them without any kind of help was impossible ๐คฏ. Math class feels like my personal downfall, but I’m powering through as best as I can ๐ช๐พ.
After surviving that, I treated myself to some Green Day coffee ☕ and mini tacos ๐ฎ with a kick! The coffee was heaven—Green Day’s got a way of summing things up with “American Idiot” and how we’re living in “Troubled Times.”Then I went to the library to work… or at least tried to. I ended up people-watching ๐, sipping my coffee, and staring at the 3D printer (off-limits to touch) ๐ค. Eventually, I packed up for web design class. Finally, something to look forward to! ๐
We’re learning to create social media ads today using Figma. It’s all about the call to action, which is actually pretty fun to figure out. Figma feels familiar, too—its layers remind me of Adobe Illustrator, which I’m comfortable with ๐ฅ️. But, of course, the chaos continued. A girl strolled in almost an hour late ⏰, then had the nerve to ask for a break! The professor had login issues, and on top of all that, one of my classmates seemed to forget the concept of personal hygiene ๐ท. Three hours in a stuffy room? No thanks—I was powering through with my coffee as my personal air freshener ☕๐จ.
After classes wrapped up, it was time to get ready for next semester. My schedule looks decent ๐ , and I was beyond excited to see that I can take math online! Finally, I can get the help I need without a professor saying no ๐๐พ. I’m all set with three more classes, but I have to wait for my doctor’s paperwork ๐ before winter/spring officially starts. Overall, I’ve lucked out with professors, tutors, and my advisor. My math professor is nice but way too strict about notes ๐ง. And then there’s the balance for my classes this semester. I had been planning to go on a study-abroad trip ✈️, but now that money will go toward tuition. Not thrilled about it, but I know it’ll be worth it. I’m still aiming for Class of 2028 ๐, and since it’s a 4-year college, there’ll be so many opportunities ahead ๐.
After all that, I waited for my mom to get off work, then we picked up my cousin (the birthday guy ๐) and headed to the Walmart Superstore near him. And surprise—my cousin treated himself to a brand-new TV ๐บ! He’s been watching everything on a projector, but apparently, his games called for a proper screen. It was a Roku TV with Apple TV and AirPlay already built in! I was kind of jealous, honestly ๐ . When I got my Roku TV years ago, it didn’t have any of those features—just the basics. He definitely scored a great upgrade!
By the time we got home around 7, I was wiped out, and naturally, that’s when the cramps hit ๐. Definitely bringing my ibuprofen and tissues tomorrow ๐ฅ to deal with the chaos of this weather messing with me.
Just when I thought the day was done, I got some amazing news about the study-abroad trip! If I get approved for the EOF scholarship, it’ll cover the $500 program fee ๐ฐ—so the only extra I’d need is food ๐ if I choose something outside of what’s included. Fingers crossed ๐ค๐พ, because I’d get to visit Czechia, Poland, and Germany ๐จ๐ฟ๐ต๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ช. My passport is already stamped with Mexico, the DR, and Greece ๐. Exceeding my goals to travel and see the world feels so good, and now I can’t wait to add these new destinations! ✨
Now I’m eating my corn ๐ฝ and chicken ๐, too tired to do any more work ๐ฉ. Time to rest up because I have class at 9:30 am ⏳.
Closing out this diary entry with a big thank-you to my insulin pump, which keeps me going ๐. Here’s hoping tomorrow is a bit less chaotic!
