Second Day Jitters: Writing Class Woes
So, my second day of writing class… well, it was something. Group work? Not exactly my idea of a good time. The professor wanted us to exchange contact info, like phone numbers. I mean, we don’t even know each other yet, and I’m definitely not comfortable handing out my number—apparently, neither was anyone else. 😂 So, I ended up pairing with two other women, but they weren’t really into giving feedback. Well, one of them was, kind of.
Then we had to discuss these quotes he gave us. And, of course, we had to talk about high school. It’s been so long since I was there that I barely remember it. Being the oldest one in the room didn’t help. Thanks for that, universe. But at least my professor seems as awkward as I am, which is kind of comforting. We eventually got to writing a semi-essay, which wasn’t too bad, but still, ugh. 😩
And then, it started raining 🌧️. Later, I found out from my mom that it wasn’t even raining where she was—go figure. The day didn’t exactly start off on the right foot either. The bus came earlier than expected, so of course, I missed it. I had to get a Lyft because I was not about to be late. I was pretty pissed 😡 about spending money when the bus is supposed to be free, but what could I do? Waiting for the next one would’ve made me late.
And, to top it off, my period decided to show up right in the middle of class. So after class, I had to go to the bookstore and buy pads and extra strength Tylenol. Not exactly how I wanted to spend my money. Smh 🤦🏾♀️. On the bright side, after class, I walked the 6 minutes to my cousin's place and got a ride home. Small victories, I guess.
By the time I got home, I was exhausted 😴. My period was kicking into high gear—painful cramps, bloating, the whole nine yards. I really don’t get what purpose it serves other than making life miserable. The aspirin that helped earlier stopped working, so now I’m just tired and over it. 😩. And to add to my misery, my other professor wants us to go to NYC to visit museums and write about them. Does she think we’re all made of money? Smh 🤦🏾♀️ Like, seriously?
Me and my cousin chilled before heading to a food truck called Jay's Fish Gate in Paterson, NJ, for some late evening bites. The food was good, though the prices were a bit steep. You can check out their IG page here. I’m writing all this while watching 1408—again. I’ve seen it a thousand times, every alternate ending, yet I still keep watching it, even though I used to hate it. 😂🤷🏾♀️
Oh, and math. My nemesis. 🧮. Somehow, I managed to get a 91 on my online homework, but it’s wild because no one else seemed to do the assignments. To be fair, it was confusing trying to find it online. I’m still struggling with those same three math questions even with help from the professors, who understandably don’t want us calling them teachers. Ugh 😩. I can’t wait until the tutors are ready—I really need the help.
Oh, and before I forget—guess what? I found my book for writing class 🤘🏾🤌🏾🤫🤭😎🥸🙂↔️🙂↕️. If you know, you know about a certain site for books. 😜
