Black History: 365 Days, No Permission Needed ✊🏾

Image
Black History: 365 Days, No Permission Needed ✊🏾 The Black Panther era was a time of unapologetic Black power, resistance, and self-determination. It wasn’t just about the fight against oppression; it was about building a future where Black people controlled their own narratives, resources, and destinies. And guess what? That fight never stopped. This image speaks to that same energy—Black history isn’t a month, a moment, or a lesson in a textbook. It’s  alive . It’s woven into the very foundation of everything we see, touch, and experience. And most importantly, it doesn’t require permission to exist. The Black Panther Party understood this well. They weren’t waiting for approval to demand justice, feed the people, or protect their communities. They took action. They built schools, provided healthcare, and challenged a system designed to keep Black people oppressed. They were feared because they were  organized . They were powerful because they  knew their worth . Fast ...

MALCOLM X: A JOURNEY FROM HATE TO HOPE

Image
Malcolm X was one of the most profound and transformative leaders of the 20th century. Known for his sharp rhetoric and unapologetic stance on Black empowerment, Malcolm’s life was a journey of self-discovery and transformation. From his early life filled with hardship to his eventual embrace of a broader worldview, his evolution stands as a testament to the power of growth and education. πŸ”₯ THE ROAD TO RADICALISM Born Malcolm Little in 1925, Malcolm’s early life was marked by violence, racial prejudice, and the loss of his father. He was introduced to the Nation of Islam during his time in prison, and it became the foundation of his ideological transformation. His rhetoric, which initially centered around Black nationalism and separatism, struck a chord with millions of African Americans who felt oppressed and marginalized. Malcolm’s views were controversial, even within the Civil Rights Movement. He advocated for self-defense and was vocal in his criticisms of both the U.S...

HARRIET TUBMAN: A LEGACY OF FREEDOM AND COURAGE

Image
Harriet Tubman’s name is synonymous with freedom, bravery, and unyielding determination. Born into slavery in Maryland in 1822, Tubman escaped to freedom but returned time and again to lead others out of bondage, risking her life to guide enslaved people through the Underground Railroad. Her unwavering commitment to liberty made her a central figure in the fight against slavery and a role model for generations to come. πŸ”₯ THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD: A PATH TO LIBERATION Tubman’s most famous role was as a conductor on the Underground Railroad, a network of secret routes and safe houses that helped enslaved African Americans escape to freedom. Tubman made at least 13 missions to rescue around 70 slaves, leading them north to safety in Canada, a journey fraught with danger at every turn. What made her success all the more remarkable was her refusal to ever let fear dictate her actions. Tubman’s ability to navigate through hostile territory, her ingenuity in evading capture, and her deep...

THE STATUE OF LIBERTY: A BLACK WOMAN'S LEGACY

Image
When we think of the Statue of Liberty, we often picture it as a symbol of freedom, hope, and democracy. But here’s a lesser-known fact—what if we told you that the statue was originally envisioned to represent a Black woman? It’s a story that many don’t know, but one that’s slowly making its way into the spotlight. πŸ”₯ THE TRUE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STATUE The idea of the Statue of Liberty began in the late 19th century. While the official story often attributes the design of the statue to French sculptor FrΓ©dΓ©ric Auguste Bartholdi, the  real  inspiration behind Lady Liberty was none other than a Black woman. The model for Lady Liberty’s face was reportedly a woman named  Josephine Baker , an African-American actress and activist known for her beauty and intelligence. But even deeper, some believe that the figure of Liberty itself was drawn from African, Black, and even Egyptian influences, making it a tribute to the spirit and strength of Black women in America. πŸ”₯ WHY ...

πŸ“š Wait… We’re Still Banning Books? 🀯

Image
πŸ“š The Library’s “CAUTION” Tape Is Not What You Think… πŸ€” So, I walked into the library today, and guess what? I see caution tape wrapped around shelves of classic books. My first thought? Did I just stumble upon a crime scene involving Mark Twain and Harper Lee? 🀯 But, plot twist—it’s actually a genius way to raise awareness about something really messed up: banning books. Yeah, the library isn’t supporting this madness. They’re making a statement about the government and certain states that still think banning books is a good idea in 2024. πŸ™„ Wait, What? We’re Still Banning Books? πŸ“–πŸš« Here’s where it gets crazy: we’re in a world where anything is a click away. You can literally Google the wildest stuff imaginable (trust me, don’t), but nope, someone decided books are the enemy. 🀦🏽‍♀️ So while libraries like this one are trying to get people to think critically and read these “dangerous” books, there are still folks out there who think slapping a ban on literature will solve all t...
